Women's Health

McMaster University Medical Centre provides specialized care to women for pregnancy, birthing and gynecology procedures.

We provide compassionate care to women and their families before, during and after pregnancy. Our maternal fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, midwives and nurses are part of your decision-making team for a range of birthing needs, from uncomplicated, home-like births to high risk pregnancies. Our comfortable birthing rooms, private showers in many rooms, and large tub for labour, all help to create the best experience possible.

Because we are the Regional Centre for high risk births, our doctors in maternal fetal medicine are uniquely trained to deal with complicated issues. We have recently built a critical care area just for women strategically located next to the labour and delivery area to ensure the best care is available at all times.

Our gynecology services treat women for a range of reproductive health issues. We use state-of-the-art procedures, including laparoscopic or minimally-invasive surgery where appropriate.
