The Hamilton General Hospital serves as the Regional Stroke Centre and Regional Neurosurgical Centre for Central South Ontario- HNHB LHIN and Waterloo-Wellington LHIN serving adults in a catchment area of 2.2 million residents. We are regarded as being a leader in stroke care provincially and nationally. With the implementation of the new HHS integrated stroke model in 2011, we work towards improving quality of care and patient outcomes as well as improving access to rehabilitation. The Neurosurgery service at the Hamilton General Hospital admits about 300 neuro spine patients per year and an additional 450 ortho spine patients per year to its specialized spine unit. Approximately 800 patients undergo brain surgery procedures and are admitted to the Clinical Neurosurgery unit. We provide specialized services to individuals with disorders of the nervous system including brain or spine.
The Neuro-ambulatory Centre sees over 10,000 patient visits annually.
