On the Acute Medicine Unit (F3) at Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre we care for patients who have serious medical conditions, such as:
- Diabetes
- Acute coronary syndromes such as unstable angina, stable heart attacks
- Arrhythmias such as irregular heart rates and rhythms
- Heart failure
- Pneumonia
- Dementia
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including chronic bronchitis and emphysema
- Asthma
- Stroke
On F3, we also have an observational care unit, where specialty care is provided for patients who need close observation, including cardiac monitoring during critical times of their illness. Patients only remain in this unit until they are medically stable and are then transferred to a regular hospital unit.
